My first job was to send LinkedIn invites from my boss's account

Updated: Feb 18, 2022

My boss would hand the visiting cards to me and my job was to find the names on LinkedIn and send invites.

I remember feeling stupid as to how on earth my education from St. Stephen's College justified this!

Fast Forward to Jan 2021, I was announced as LinkedIn Top Voice. What I viewed as a menial work triggered my introduction and comfort with a new emerging platform.

I am now able to understand and value that clerical work in hindsight. To be completely transparent, I was also given a #sales auditing project later during my internship.

However, was my #LinkedIn project really a problem-solving work? No!

If you want to grow a tree, it is going to take its sweet time.

It's now that I'm able to understand and appreciate that no project I ever picked has gone to waste. It completely depends upon your skills and perspective on how do you leverage it.

While I am all in to hunt better projects at your work, but if you are stuck with something clerical, perhaps its time to shift your worldview.

Today as a founder, ex-management consultant and policy advisor, I frankly leverage both clerical and strategical #work I have completed in the last ten years. Promising careers are nothing less than a collective function of patience, perspectives and skills.

Whenever you feel bogged down by your work, remember that when life gives you lemon, don't make a lemonade, make a godamn Martini ❤️
